Puthia Rajbari or the fifth house of Zamindar Bari is the residence of Maharani Hemantakumari Devi. Among the archeological traditions of Bengal, Puthia Rajbari is one of Rajshahi. 32 km north of Rajshahi district headquarter - Puthia is located on the path of Natore highway. Puthia can come from any place of the country on the bus and can be easily reached on the road by going to Natore or Rajshahi by train. [2]
HistoryāĻ
During the Mughal era in the seventeenth century, Puthia zamindari was among the oldest states of Bengal, among the earliest states. It is said that after obtaining the title of 'Raja' from a Nilambara Mughal emperor Jahangir (1605-27 AD), it was known as Puthia Rajbari. In 1744 zamindari was divided. The eldest son of the zamindar got five and five sons for the property, and the other three sons got three and a half. [1] 1950 [citation needed] There was zamindari system till the year. When the tradition was abolished, the zamindari of Puthia Rajbari was abolished. Although the zamindari was abolished, their palaces, temples and other structures built in that period are still alive. This palace was built in honor of Maharani Hemant Kumari Devi in ââ1895 in honor of his mother-in-law Sharat Sundari Devi. [1]
